Disability Insurance (DI)
Disability Insurance is designed to compensate you for a portion of lost wages resulting from an accident, injury or other impairment that prevents you from performing your core job functions. DI comes in many different shapes and sizes, with varying payment levels and optional benefits, and may be purchased either by an individual or an employer. An employer may also utilize DI to protect a business from lost income due to employee disability.
Long-Term Care (LTC) Insurance
LTC Insurance is designed to cover all or part of the costs associated with so-called “long-term care,” i.e. ongoing assistance with basic daily activities such eating, bathing and dressing. LTC coverage can come into play after catastrophic events (e.g. a serious accident or injury, debilitating illness, etc.) and is centrally important to elderly individuals managing the aging process and/or seeking end-of-life care. The cost of purchasing LTC Insurance is based upon a variety of factors, including applicant age, maximum per-diem cost coverage, maximum number of total days covered, and the voluntary selection of optional benefits, e.g. coverage that increases with inflation.
